Which Place to say in San Francisco (please give opinion)

The Westin St. Francis is nice and right in the center of all the action in Union Square. There are some great deals to be had online through www.quikbook.com and hotels.com. I stayed at the Clift Hotel in SF 2 weeks ago.

I stayed in the Marriott San Francisco a couple of months ago. It's clean, very nice rooms, great location about a block from the Moscone Center, and it has a very well equipped fitness room.

There's a 42nd floor bar with great views of the city.

(I won't vote because I don't know the other hotels.)

DISCLAIMER: minor shill below

let me see if I cant get Gayle (SWMBO) to weigh in here...she manages the revenue (sets the room rates) for a famous Union Square hotel - the Sir Francis Drake. When she gets home, I'll ask her to post if there is a good rate to be had.

Trust me, the hotel is outstanding, and the location is superb if you are working in the downtown or Financial district.

Edited to add: what are your dates and length of stay? Gayle will need to know...

For some novel, but very interesting food, try La Mar. it's a Peruvian restaurant by some Peruvian celebrity chefs. The cooked stuff will be good, but the ceviches, at least in La Mar in Lima, are phenomenal. You will not be disappointed.

Go here: http://www.oshathai.com/

Get the Osha Spicy Dice. Could easily be in the top 5 dishes I have ever had from a restaurant. Salmon, basil, onion, hot peppers, and I think rice. Amazing.

Well, never heard back from Wineguy so I booked a room at Hotel Frank. It's 1 block from one thing we have to go to, and 3 blocks or so from Moscone.... NOW, just gotta figure out how to get to Pebble on Sunday or Monday. Do they have shuttles or something? 117 miles is a long way to walk.

If you are in the Armed Forces the good place is the Marine Memorial Club (I think that's close to the name). Very decent prices and it is a nice hotel right downtown.
