Round Summary - 19 Sep

I played in the comp at my club yesterday, after not playing much for the past 2 months.

Greens were cored (punched) about 1.5 weeks ago, and were still very sandy and bumpy.

My ballstriking was just flat out solid. The best I have consistently hit the ball in probably 2 years. But I couldn't score. 3 x 3 putts, plus a bunch of missed birdie opportunities from in close (and a few par saves) just kept me on the back foot.

After 3-putting 16 from close range, I proceeded to bogey 17 with a crap chip, and then hit my tee ball into the right rough for a lost ball on 18. Bogey, Bogey, Double Bogey finish for a 78.

I missed 3 fairways for the day, and I think I hit 10 greens, but most misses were only a couple of yards off.

It was really gratifying to strike it so solidly, and I am not too concenred by the putting because the greens were pretty shabby. I am certainly not going to change my stroke or routine, just based on that outing.

I am looking forward to next weeks' competition round, and to a couple of tournaments in October.
